Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Originalfonts.com (“Originalfonts”, “we”, “us”) collects when you visit our website, how we use it and the choices you have. We keep data collection to a minimum: you don’t need an account to browse or download fonts.

Information we collect

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our web server records basic technical information each time a page or file is requested. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, the page you visited, the page that sent you to us and the date and time. We use these server logs to keep the site running, fix errors and protect it from abuse. They are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.

When you download a font, we add one to that font’s download counter. The counter only stores the total number of downloads. It does not record who downloaded the font.

Information you give us

If you use our Contact or Report a Font forms, we collect the information you enter: your name, email address, message and, for copyright reports, the details the law requires (such as your postal address and phone number). We use this information only to reply to you and to handle your request. Messages are stored in our website dashboard and sent to our email inbox.

If you submit a font, we collect the font files, the font and designer details you enter (which we publish on the font’s page if we accept it), and your name and email address. Your name and email address are never published: we use them only to contact you about your submission, including to let you know when your font goes live.

To block spam, our forms temporarily use a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address to limit how many messages can be sent in a short time. This is deleted automatically within an hour.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser.

Our own cookies. Originalfonts does not set its own tracking or advertising cookies for visitors. WordPress, the software our site runs on, only sets cookies for people who log in to manage the site.

Advertising cookies (Google AdSense). We show ads provided by Google AdSense to keep Originalfonts free. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies on our site:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they may be less relevant to you.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before personalized ads and related cookies are used. We use Google’s consent message for this. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings link shown in that message.

Managing cookies in your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking cookies won’t stop you from browsing or downloading fonts.

Fonts and files on our site

The fonts on Originalfonts, including the previews you see in your browser, are stored on and served from our own server. We do not load fonts from third-party font services, so viewing a font preview does not send your information to a font provider.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • run, maintain and secure the website,
  • count downloads and show which fonts are popular,
  • answer your messages and handle copyright or removal requests,
  • review font submissions and tell designers when their fonts are published,
  • show ads through Google AdSense, as described above.

We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing information

We share information only:

  • with Google, as part of showing ads, as described in the Cookies section,
  • with our hosting and email providers, who process data on our behalf so the site and our inbox can work,
  • when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of Originalfonts and its visitors.

When we receive a copyright notice, we may share it with the person who provided the content in question, as the law allows.

How long we keep information

Server logs are kept for a limited time. Messages you send us are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and for our records. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted. To make a request, use our Contact page. We will respond as required by the law that applies to you.

Children

Originalfonts is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

Our pages may link to other websites, such as designers’ sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
